Labiba Nayeem Khan : In China’s Shangqiu Hospital, 16% COVID-19 positive have the virus in their semen, leading to a probability that the disease could be sexually transmitted.
The data was not final, and more research should be done and compared with other studies.
Two earlier studies tested the semen of 12 COVID-19 patients in China, all tested negative.
Allan Pacey, andrology professor at Sheffield University said, even if the virus was found in semen, it is unknown whether the virus is able to cause infection. He also said no one should be so surprised if Covid-19 virus is found in the semen, since in case of Ebola and Zika, virus was found in semen of some men. Source: theguardian.com
