Shamsuddin Peara: India's Muslim population (±300m) is bigger than the total population of any country in the world except China and USA which acts as a deterrent to Hindu supremacist politics of the BJP. Voters of Karnataka have shown it once again in last week's polls that Indians do not support wily politicians who try to drive society on ethnic and religious hatred. Voters have rejected them in the southern state giving a thumping majority to secular political parties and civilized politicians.
The three thousand year old civilization of India has survived and flourished on tolerance, respect, hospitality and love for humanity. Politicians like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath and political parties like BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal and Hindu Mahasabha will flow down the sewer line of history as political excrement. The power hungry politicians of India, even the most popular ones, and it's food hungry population do not hold the same view on religious tolerance. Its huge Muslim population also serves as a cushion against growth and nourishment of extreme Hindu chauvinistic politics.
